Dotun Adebayo argues that the US president cannot continue drawing red lines in the sand
Written by Dotun Adebayo
WHY OH why did Barack Obama have to go and draw a red line in the sand when every other world leader was burying their heads in it over Syria?
Why oh why?
He was doing well until then. As the first black president he hardly put a foot wrong. And then he goes and puts his foot right in it…. in his mouth. And now he’s going to have to ruck with Assad, no matter what.
Any bad bwoy knows you can’t throw the gauntlet down and not expect somebody to pick it up. Or in other words, if you throw your corn a door and you no call no fowl/foul, somebody is bound to pick it up and then it’s your business.
You nuh see’t.
Obama is supposed to be the top don. How can a small bwoy like Syria call his bluff on chemical weapons? Instead of giving Damascus a proper kuff in the neck back with a Tomahawk missile or two, Obama had to run to Congress to beg them to back him. That don’t look good on any president. But on the first black president it’s worse. It makes him look like a Somali refugee.
I mean, how hard can it be to bomb the hell out of Syria? Obama shouldn’t need any backative to do that. He’s the Commander-in-Chief.
His predecessor started a war in Iraq and a war in Afghanistan. But this president is coming like he’s not in charge. The Russians have been taking the Michael out of hm and the Syrians have been taking the urine. And his racist critics are already saying, “Didn’t we tell you in 2008 that this BOY ain’t up to the job?”
Frankly, Mr President, you’re giving black folks (especially bruvvas) a bad name by giving the impression that when the gwaning gets tough the bruvvas get gwaning.
Mr President, even though I am not into this war ting, you got us in this mess and now it’s down to you to get our respect back.
Otherwise people will start taking liberties. You can’t go around drawing red lines and not expecting people to step over it. So do what ya gotta do, just don’t kill anyone in the process.
