Tanzania moved to the top of group A with a 1-0 win over Somalia who once again proved they were not push overs.
Second half substitute Athmani Chanongo scored the all important goal in the 56th minute finish off after a sublime pass by Mrisho Ngasa.
Somalia defied all odds as they frustrated every effort by Tanzania who beat them 7-0 in last year’s Cecafa as they played their hearts out ending the first half in a barren draw.
The second half was a see saw affair as both team fought gallantly with Tanzania’s keeper Ivo Mapunda keeping a clean sheet.
Somalia’s Jibril Mohammed were named man of the match but it was a defining moment for the horn of Africa team who saw their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals go up in flames with the second loss in a row.
