WDN Interview: President Hassan Sh. Mohamoud “I do not belong to any religious group”:

Mogadishu (WDN)-  September 10 marks the first anniversary of the Presidency of Hassan Sh. Mohamoud, who was sworn in on Sept 10, 2012 as the president of the Federal Government of Somalia. WardheerNews had the opportunity to interview President Hassan on this occasion. The interview covered many aspects of Somalia’s protracted civil unrest and his administration’s policies towards moving Somalia forward. President Hassan stated that his government made progress in areas of security, political outreach and public finance management.

Hassan_MohPresident Hassan responding to the question of his government’s lack of representation on the 4.5 all inclusive power share,  but a government dominated by one group mostly from Damul Jadiid, stated that “ I said before and I will repeat it that I do not belong to any religious group. The parliament and the cabinet are fully representative of all communities of Somalia, so your question misses the point and misleads people. Our institutions are based on power-sharing of all communities of Somalia. Political parties will be implemented in Somalia which will pave the path to democracy. We want to hold free and fair elections in 2016 so people will decide their future leaders”.

On the issues of the war with Al Shabab President Hassan said “Al-Shabaab is on the run, but they are still alive. Our forces and AMISOM are now stretched as we now control most of the country. Due to logistical reasons we have been focusing on putting all the plans to continue our offensive against Al-Shabaab, which we will soon take control of all the cities that are under Al-Shabaab control”.

WardheerNews we will post the entire interview soon.
