Kabale- FDC president Mugisha Muntu has predicted that if President Museveni is announced winner in the 2016 election, the country might experience Somalia’s situation since majority population want change.

Gen Muntu, who is canvassing for votes to be elected FDC presidential flag bearer, was on Tuesday speaking at Bubare Secondary School playground in Kabale District.
When he asked how many people are clamouring for change, almost all the people that attended the rally raised their hands shouting they wanted change.

“I appeal to western Uganda to release President Museveni so that he can go alone not with our country. If Mr Museveni is announced the winner in 2016, I predict what you see happening in Somalia shall be seen here because majority people want change. FDC has demonstrated good leadership based on true democracy and transparency within its party and once given chance, it can provide good leadership at national level,” Gen Muntu said.

Gen Muntu added that he cannot opt to use guns to get power because he knows that power to lead a country lies in the hands of the citizens.

“The power of the gun is like alcohol which one starts drinking while sober but eventually gets drunk. Power from the citizens is the best in leading the country although it’s tiresome and laborious. I know the gun sorts out issues very fast but I can no longer hold it anymore,” Gen Muntu said.

The FDC president asked Ugandans to support good leaders if they are to get quality services.

He appealed to those in other parties to join FDC saying it’s the only political party where internal democracy is seen and practiced unlike NRM where whoever comes up to practice internal democracy is suffocated.

Former education minister Amanya Mushega asked Ugandans to vote for leaders that add value to their communities not those who intimidate them. He asked leaders to give space for others for better politics.
