At least a part of the Karmel Square Somali Mall in South Minneapolis collapsed Tuesday morning.

Authorities arrived at the 2900 block of Pillsbury Avenue South shortly after 8:40 a.m. and evacuated Karmel Square and several surrounding structures.

There were no injuries, according to Minneapolis police spokesman Scott Seroka.

Wood framing hanging from the edge of the building’s rooftop was visible from the street. Authorities have closed area roads to traffic.

The collapse caused a power outage in the area that technicians are working to fix, an Xcel Energy worker at the scene said.

A building inspector is investiagating the cause of the collapse, Seroka said.

A news conference is set for 10 a.m.
