Mugadishu (WDN) – Today, June 06, 2015, members of Somalia’s Federal Parliament have approved a motion that rejects the formation of the newly formed Jubbaland Parliament, calling it illegal.

About 142 legislators were present, 132 approved the motion, 4 opposed it, and 6 abstained.
There have been attempts, for the last few weeks, to bring a vote on the proposed motion after some clans in the Kismayo-based regional government had vehemently opposed of what they had termed as an unjust and exclusive Jubaland parliament.
The Jubaland administration under the leadership of Ahmed Madobe has immediately issued a statement in which it cut off all relations and contacts with the Federal Government. Madobe, who was once one of the top leaders of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization, gave a press government a few weeks ago in which he castigated the SFG and the Federal Parliament for their attempts to oppose the new Jubaland parliament.
