Maputo, (Prensa Latina) Mozambican authorities reported the discovery of 13 Somali corpses in a forest in the eastern province of Sofala, about 200 meters from a police station.
The first report of the forensic experts determined that the 13 men could have died asphyxiated during the crossing between an unknown place and that locality while they traveled hidden in a container, one of the methods used by the traffickers of people.
It is likely that they were undocumented migrants traveling from the north to the south of the country, and when the driver of the truck realized they were dead, he threw them into the forest, a government source who asked not to be identified told the O Pais newspaper.
The final destination of the undocumented may have been South Africa where they expected to find employment in mining or agriculture.
Illegal emigration has become one of the paths taken by masses of subjects of African countries in conflict who flee in search of employment in other states of the continent or try to reach the shores of Europe.
