Ethiopia: July with record number of Covid-19 infections in one day

Addis Abeba, Ethiopia recorded 915 infections from Covid-19 on Friday, breaking the record for a day set the day before, and by the end of July has documented a total of 17,530 infections.
The new infections were diagnosed within a group of 8,957 clinical samples analyzed in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry report.

During that period 11 citizens also died from the disease and the total number of deaths grew to 274, adds the infection update text.

The health authority also reported that 187 more patients were discharged and the number of recoveries increased to 6,959, while 10,304 people are still being treated, including 138 in intensive care units.

With a population of approximately 109.2 million people (2018 data), Ethiopia has conducted 422,354 laboratory tests since last March, and as of this Friday is among the eight African nations most affected by Covid-19.
