I needed to take an emergency trip from Dar es Salaam to Washington DC and had to find a flight quickly. Given that it was last minute, I figured it wouldn’t be cheap, assuming I found the flight arrangements I needed in the first place. Bracing myself for what I would or wouldn’t find, I started searching online, and my concerns were quickly put at ease once I found myself on Ethiopian Airlines’ web site. They had several flights available and – to my pleasant surprise – at considerably affordable prices. Their online booking system was user friendly, and in no time, I managed to book the flight I needed.
Fast forward a couple of days later, as I proceeded with the trip from Dar, I could certainly say that the airline had their act together. The flights – originating as well as connecting – were punctual and went smoothly. I had an opportunity to spend a few hours in Addis, on transit at Bole International Airport, and was pleased by the standards they upheld (facilities, stores, cleanliness, etc.). The meals on the flights themselves were enjoyable and the staff were generous in ensuring that passengers had food and beverages as desired. The in-flight entertainment was quite good too, with a large selection of new movies/shows to choose from … which made the time on an otherwise long flight go by quickly … and before I knew it, we were landing at Dulles International Airport.
In short, Ethiopian Airlines provided me with just the service I needed – at the right time and right price – to do what I had to do. I remain grateful to them for that and have fond memories from the trip overall. Oh, and of course, can’t forget the beautiful hostesses … each of whom, in my opinion, was model material … speaking as a guy, at least, I can’t lie – that was certainly icing on the cake!
