We implore for a prompt and impartial investigation to uncover the truth behind this terrible incident, shedding light on the motives and individuals responsible. It is of utmost importance for all relevant authorities to collaborate fully in this inquiry, avoiding any unfounded allegations.
Moreover, we call upon the community to maintain a sense of calmness and resist any attempts to escalate tensions. This moment necessitates a collective effort towards healing, rather than resorting to further acts of violence.
However, it is essential to recognize that this grave crime cannot be seen in isolation. The prevailing public discontent, which arises from injustices, rampant public looting, economic struggles, and a lack of security, continues to go unaddressed. The Congress has credible information that indicates high-ranking officials are exploiting this tragedy to incite larger inter-clan conflicts through various social media platforms. This includes issuing ultimatums for specific clans to leave Dhagaxbur – an action that contradicts the traditional norms of Somali culture.
This manipulative and calculated strategy to fuel grievances is part of a disturbing pattern where the regional government deliberately stokes inter-clan disputes to divert public attention away from recent revelations of extensive corruption within the president’s administration.
The CSC reminds the regional leadership that sowing hatred between communities and capitalizing on grievances for political advantage is a grave dereliction of their leadership responsibilities. Such actions betray the trust of the public and carry significant consequences.
Despite the persistent challenges of poverty, unemployment, and insecurity faced by the citizens, corruption, nepotism, and serious misconduct in public affairs continue to plague the region. Therefore, it is imperative to establish a system of governance that prioritizes the well-being of the people over the enrichment of a privileged few. Vital reforms must be implemented to root out corruption, foster economic opportunities, strengthen security measures, restore faith in institutions, and prevent the collapse of the state. Enacting legislation that discourages the malicious exploitation of clan and sub-clan divisions is crucial for promoting social cohesion.
