Mogadishu ( WDN) – The Somali parliament received a motion to dismiss President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud signed by 140 members. In their letter, the members accused President Hassan of his failure to lead the country in post transitional period.
Some of the failures noted by the members of the Somali parliament in their motion includes:
1) The president’s flagrant abuse of power and his lack of respect for the constitution and the duties of the Prime minister.
2) The embezzlement of public funds and property and lack of transparency.
3) Widespread corruption , such as the recent oil exploration corruption
allegation unearthed by the UN Somalia and Eritrea monitoring group.
4) A war with the regional governments .
The confidence veto is expected to be debated in the parliament in the coming days .
Somali lawmakers elected Mr. Mohamoud as the new president in September 2012. According to the Somali constitution the president can be dismissed with the approval of 185 votes.
