Abdul Mohsin Al-Ahmari with friends … height of problems
Jeddah, Abdul Mohsin Al-Ahmari, 22, with a stature measuring 2 meters and 22 cm, is the tallest man in the Gulf and the second tallest in the world, the first one being the Turk Sultan Kosen, who stands at 2.47 meters.
Al-Ahmari believes his height is due to hereditary factors since his father was 1.95-meter tall.
But Al-Ahmari was not always that tall, despite weighing 5 kg when he was born. However, after a month or two, his height started growing noticeably until he reached 180 cm during his early teens.
His brother Kareem also registered a considerable height. Al-Ahmari said that despite his amazing tallness, he lives an ordinary and natural life and when he meets people, they are very surprised by his height, but talk about it in good spirit.
The tall wonder is unemployed but he needs a job, especially after his father died and he needs to look after his mother and three brothers.
He feels the companies that rejected him when he applied for jobs did so because of his height, even though he claims to have applied for jobs that would be appropriate to his abilities and big build.
He referred to the other daily sufferings he endures, like driving a car, which hurts his feet and back. Al-Ahmari claims he dreams of having a car that would suit his frame.
But driving isn’t his main problem. Other personal needs and accessories have been a source of tension for him. Most of his clothes need to be tailor-made at high prices.
A pair of boots costs him around SR900, which only lasts for two months because of his continuing growth. Al-Ahmari said even his underwear costs him a lot and takes a long time to make.
Al-Ahmari can’t go to the market like others because of society’s reaction when he appears in public. He gets angry when people gather around him to take photos.
He said because of this, he might not be allowed to enter certain malls once the management sees a crowd surrounding him.
