
Postville, Iowa ( WDN)- Abdiqani Shukri Hassan a poultry worker in Agri Star Meat and Poultry of Postville Iowa, was lifted into an area hospital after a co-worker from Mexico stabbed him with a knife. He bled profusely for couple of hours after company officials refused to call police or take him to area hospitals . WardheerNews Sources who also work at the plant stated that when a supervisor refused to call the police another Somali fellow named Adan tried to call the police, a technician manager strangled to stop him from taking any action. Adan is also believed to be in critical condition according to sources that did not want to give their names for reasons of persecution.
Agri Star in Postville Iowa is meat and Poultry Company that employs many immigrants from Somalia. About 250 Somalis are believed to work in the plant. According to WDN source in Agri Star there is tension between Somali and Mexican workers. Many Somalis who work in Agri Star claim they feel company officials as well as Mexican workers are prejudice against them because they are Muslims. WDN sources who knew Abdiqani said, “He is a very personable helpful person who helps other co-workers with shopping and running errands. He never gets tired of helping others.”
Many are mourning the condition of Abdiqani Hassan and his co-worker Adan who are both believed to be in critical condition.
