MOGADISHU,  At least two people were killed in a suicide bomb attack Saturday in Mogadishu, capital of Somalia, police and witnesses said.

The suicide attack took place at a restaurant near the presidential palace, said police officer Abdisalam Ahmed.

“Our forces arrived at the scene,” he said.

Witnesses said the powerful explosion destroyed a number of cars.

“We heard huge blast at the Village Restaurant and everyone moved away from the place for fear of the occurrence of other explosion,” Mustafa Nor, a witness who was near the place, told Xinhua.

The same restaurant had suffered similar attacks launched by Al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabaab, which has been responsible for many attacks in and out of Somalia in recent years.
