Detectives investigating the ‘targeted attack’ on a 20-year-old man stabbed to death in Islington on Saturday have arrested three people.
The victim has been formally identified as Mohamed Abdullahi, from Kentish Town, a spokesman from the Metropolitan Police Service confirmed.
Two 19-year-old men and an 18-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently in custody at a north London police station.
Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information.
The spokesman said police were called to reports of a disturbance just before 1am on Saturday, June 29 in York Way.
A 20-year-old man was found suffering serious injuries and was taken to the Royal London Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination on Saturday at the Whittington Hospital mortuary gave cause of death as stab wounds.
An incident room has opened at Hendon police station under Detective Chief Inspector Matt Bonner of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
DCI Bonner said: “We are at the early stage of a murder investigation and we must retain an open mind, however we believe this to have been a targeted attack on the victim.
“I need to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the York Way area early on Saturday morning.
“In particular, I need to hear from anyone who saw a group of three or four males near to Aspendos Bar and Grill in York Way close to the junction with Camden Road, at around 12.45am.”
Anyone with information should contact the incident room on 020 8358 0200 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
