Press Statement, Save Parliament Committee

We share our concerns first with the Somali people who are the principle stakeholders in our democracy. Our democracy is under attack by the very President that was enshrined constitutionally with the powers to protect it. Specifically, the institutions that planned and executed the attack on the Federal Parliament include Office of the Presidency, Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Internal Security and Ministry of Defense.

And as such, every institution will be accounted for its actions as we launch an investigation to all individuals involved in this illegal attempt to overthrow the democratically elected Parliament, not through the ballot box, but by the use of force, orchestrated by the President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo.

We reassure the Somali people, that we will not be easily intimidated and that we will continue holding the executive branch accountable. Furthermore, we call our international partners to continue their vital support to our people as we restore our democratic institutions to the rule of law and constitutional principles.
