Muscat: X-Press Feeders, the largest common feeder operator in the world, has commenced a new service between Salalah and Berbera (Somalia). The service may expand at a later stage to other ports in the region.

“Berbera is an important market for many of the international shipping lines. This new service from Salalah will allow the shipping lines, many of whom already use Salalah as a hub, to offer a cost-efficient and competitive transit time to Berbera,” said David Gledhill, chief executive officer of Port of Salalah said.

The connectivity also provides an additional supply chain route for the growing trade between Salalah and Berbera.

Nelson Sequeira, senior director of X-Press Feeders said, “This is an important milestone for both X-Press Feeders and Port of Salalah in our ongoing cooperation to expand our presence in the region. We hope to expand our presence in Salalah and facilitate the shipping lines ability to leverage on their global connectivity via Salalah to offer comprehensive and flexible coverage of the region.”
