by Andrew Oryada

Al-MerreikhSudanese League Champions El merreikh need to bag maximum points when they face Somalia’s Banadir FC in a Group C match as the 2014 Cecafa Kagame Club Championship enters Day 4 today.

The star studded El merreikh side lost their opening match 1-0 to Police FC of Rwanda last Saturday. “We have reorganized the team and we shall be all out to win today,” Yousief Burhaneldin, the El merreikh coach told AfricanFootball.com.

They will expect some magic from new signing Kenyan striker Allan Wanga who did not have a good game against Police FC. The Sudan giants also boost of goalkeeper Salim Omar Magoola (Uganda), Muhamed Traore (Mali), Pascal Serge Wawa (Ivory Coast) and Egyptian Mohamed Said Ayman.

In the other games taking place today at the Nyamirambo Stadium, Kenyan champions Gor mahia will face Atletico FC (Burundi) in what promises to be a thriller, while defending champions Vital’O (Burundi) will take on home side Police FC.

On Sunday Tanzanian side Azam FC and Rayon Sport (Rwanda) returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win over KMKM FC from Zanzibar in a Group A tie.

Skipper John Rafael Bocco who also features for Tanzania’s national side, Taifa Stars and new signing Lionel Saint Preux netted a brace each. Azam now have four points from two matches after they settled for a barren draw against Rayon Sport in the opening match last Friday.

The last game of the day saw Ethiopia’s Adama FC put-up a spirited show, but eventually fell 2-1 to Rayon Sport who were motivated by the big home crowd.

Substitute Kambala Gentil Salita netted a second half brace for Rayon Sport, while Desaleny Debesh scored the consolation goal for the Ethiopian side.
