Lisbon takes over anti-piracy body

Portugal has assumed the presidency of the judicial forum of the body that is fighting piracy off the Somali coast created by the UN, involving various countries and organisations, a source at the foreign ministry said.

The organisation, which Portugal has been a member of since 2009, is composed of countries, international and regional organisations, civil society and ship owners and has integrated the European Union (EU) and NATO operations in the region with ships and aircraft.
