Tanzania’s mainland national team “The Kilimanjaro stars” are looking forward to capture their first victory in this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup as they face Somalia in a Group B match on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium.
Kilimanjaro Stars are currently second in Group B with one point and two points below leaders Burundi, following their 1-1 draw with Zambia, and Somalia at the bottom of the group.
Stars head coach Kim Poulsen is expected to make slight changes from the squad that faced Zambia at the Kenyatta Stadium.
The changes could see Yanga SC’s Athumani Iddi “Chuji” replacing youngster Hassan Dilunga to partner with his club mate Frank Domayo in the midfield together with Azam’s Salum Abubakar “Sureboy” and Simba’s Amri Kiemba.
While the attacking role could see Yanga’s Mrisho Ngassa partnering with Ruvu Shooting striker Elias Maguri.
The last five meetings between these two sides, have seen The Kilimanjaro stars grabbing four victories, including last year’s emphatic 7-0 victory in Uganda, and their opponents Somalia with just one victory.
Yanga’s Mrisho Ngassa netted five goals in their last year’s 7-0 thrashing of Somalia in the tournament.
