Detectives in Kericho county have arrested eight Somalis in Londiani subcounty.

The six women and two children aged between three and four were headed to Eastleigh In Nairobi from Uganda.

Kericho criminal investigation officer Danson Diru said the eight had flown from Somalia to Uganda before travelling by road to Kenya.

On reaching Kisumu, they hired a taxi to take them to Nairobi.

The eight were intercepted at around midday at Londiani and taken to Kericho police station.

“They cannot speak in Kiswahili or English and interrogating officers had to look for an interpreter,” Diru told the Star on the phone.

After interrogation, the eight were taken to the Kericho law court at round 4:30pm but the magistrate could not hear their case as the time was gone.

They were taken back to Kericho police station to be arraigned in court yesterday.

But by the time the story was filed they had not been brought to court.
