Commander-in-Chief of Puntland Defense Forces Briefs on ISIS Casualties from the Airstrikes

Bosaso (WDN)- The Commander-in-Chief of Puntland’s Defense Forces, General Aadan Abdi Hashi, provided a concise briefing to VOA News on heavy airstrikes targeting ISIS militants entrenched in the Calmiskaad Mountains.

General Hashi, who is leading Puntland’s ongoing Operation to Eradicate ISIS Militants in the Calmiskaad Mountains, first acknowledged the U.S. military airstrikes conducted last night against ISIS positions in the area.

In a brief summary of the operation, the General confirmed that at least 10 key ISIS hideouts—including underground bunkers—were precisely targeted in the mountains. He emphasized that all strikes hit their intended objectives as planned.

General Hashi also stated that the airstrikes killed a significant number of ISIS fighters, including senior commanders. However, he noted that casualty assessments are still ongoing to determine the full extent of the group’s losses.

Separately, a brief statement from Puntland’s anti-terrorism task force revealed that the airstrikes focused on areas including Miiraale, Togga Jeceel, and Dhaasaan. Puntland forces had earlier secured these zones ahead of the aerial bombardment to ensure operational success.
