Rwandan champions APR will be looking to book a place in the last eight when they take on Somalia’s Heegan FC on Tuesday afternoon in the Cecafa Kagame Cup in Dar es Salaam.

The army side, who registered a 1-0 victory against Al Ahly Shendi of Sudan in the tournament opener on Saturday, will be looking to replicate their second half performance that saw them dominate possession and find the back of the net through Djihad Bizimana.

Midfielder Yannick Mukunzi, who was named man-of-the-match, said, “We want to maintain the winning form and register victory against Heegan FC.”

APR head coach Dusan Suljagic said that he is optimistic his side can go on and win the title and believes in his players.

The three-time Cecafa winners (2004, 2007 & 2010) will be looking to add yet another regional title to their decorated trophy cabinet.

But most importantly they will want to end the recent winless jinx that has seen them lose two consecutive finals – in 2013 to Burundi’s Vital’O in Sudan and to Sudan’s El Merreikh last year in Rwanda.
