The Qur’an, a divine, authentic book that is without doubt and revealed to The Messenger of Allaah, Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, was delivered by Archangel Jibril (Gabriel) in the blessed West Arabian towns of Makkah and Madinah beginning in 610 and ending in 632 Ce. It was revealed in the ninth month of Ramadan, the Lunar calendar that is known as Al-Hijra (A.H.)–corresponding to the first migration of the Prophet and his followers from Makkah to Madinah in the year 1 A.H.

The first Surah or Chapter to be revealed to the Messenger of Allaah is Surah/Chapter Iqra whose meaning is “Read.” Some translators of the Qur’an name it embryo or clot, but since the chapter is all about reading the Qur’an, then it should be translated “Read.”

At first, only five verses were revealed and the revelation continued for almost twenty-three years. The Qur’an is the mother of All Books; it is incorrigible, preserved, doubtless, unchangeable, and beyond the grasp of humans and jinn to make alterations as happened to the previous divine books like the Zaboor of Daud or David, the Taurat (Torah) of Musa (Moses), and the Injeel (Evangel) of Jesus. The rise of Western scholarship in modern times is loaded with dual-coordinates where Judeo-Christianity serves as the common axis of Abraham, even though, Abraham in scriptural sources appears obscure, it appears he has become an inspiration for three religions.[i] Dragging Islam into the philosophy of Judeo-Christian monotheism is tantamount to skeletonizing Islam’s divinely protected status as depicted in the Qur’an.

And verily, it is in the mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom “Quranic verses 43:4 –.” Yusuf Ali
