Somaliland President Attends Global Summit in Dubai

Dubai, UAE (WDN)–The President of the Somaliland Administration, Abdirahman Cirro, announced his participation in the World Government Summit, a major international forum held in Dubai. In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, President Cirro detailed his involvement in the high-level gathering.

The summit convened government leaders, policy experts, and representatives from international organizations to discuss critical future-facing topics. According to Cirro, the agenda focused on the evolution of governance, fostering innovation, the integration of modern technology, and developing advanced state institutions.

“Representing the Republic of Somaliland, and demonstrating our role in advancing statehood, good governance, and strengthening international cooperation, I held fruitful meetings,” Cirro stated in his social media post. He emphasized that his presence provided an opportunity to engage with global leaders, investors, and stakeholders.

The President further noted that these discussions revealed “genuine interest and readiness” from international parties to explore investment opportunities within Somaliland. His attendance at the summit marks the second consecutive year he has participated in the event, underscoring Somaliland’s ongoing efforts to engage with the global community despite its lack of widespread international recognition as a sovereign state.

The UAE and the Federal Government of Somalia have recently entered into a diplomatic rift, with Somalia accusing the UAE of engaging in activities that undermine the country’s security and unity, prompting the suspension of relations between the two countries.
