Gaalkacyo, (WDN) –The Puntland Police Force has confirmed the successful recapture of a high-profile Al-Shabaab convict who recently escaped from the Central Prison in Gaalkacyo. The fugitive, Cabdiqani Saleebaan Jaamac, also known by the alias “Sayloor,” had been sentenced to death by firing squad by the Military Court after being found guilty of grave offenses against public safety and the lives of civilians.

In a joint operation meticulously planned and executed by the Puntland Police and local residents of Wisil and Bacaadwayne, the fugitive was apprehended after a period of evasion in the Mudug region. Authorities revealed that Cabdiqani was a key member of a network responsible for orchestrated assassinations in Gaalkacyo and its surrounding areas.

According to security officials, Cabdiqani had previously escaped government custody and was actively being pursued by Puntland’s security agencies. A bounty had been placed on his capture, which ultimately contributed to his apprehension in Bacaadwayne, a town under the Galmudug administration.

Following his arrest, the convict was transferred to the Central Prison, where authorities have stated he will be processed according to the legal framework and previous court ruling.

The Puntland Police Command extended its appreciation to the local residents and regional security personnel who assisted in the successful operation. The police also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security and enforcing the rule of law across the state.

“This operation reflects our unwavering dedication to protecting our communities and ensuring that justice is served,” a senior police official stated.
