Jowhar (WDN)-The Chairman of the First Instance Court of the Armed Forces, Hassan Ali Nur (Shuute), addressed Somali National Army (SNA) troops on the frontlines, warning against desertion and urging them to intensify their fight against Al-Shabaab.
Shuute revealed that a platoon commander and several soldiers who abandoned their positions have been arrested and are being held in Mogadishu. He commended the remaining troops for their resilience and urged them to redouble their efforts.
“The soldiers who fled to Mogadishu are under arrest. Those of you still here must remain steadfast. We are in Ramadan—do not allow any weakness from your side,” he stated.
He emphasized that soldiers must uphold their oath to defend the country, regardless of leadership changes.
“Even a platoon commander deserted. Remember, if your highest-ranking officer falls, the mission must continue. Anyone who flees should be considered as good as dead,” he added.
His remarks come as government forces, backed by local militia, continue battling Al-Shabaab, which has recently launched a renewed offensive in the Middle Shabelle region.
