The political climate has deteriorated further following explosive allegations circulating on social media claiming that federal security agencies are involved in a dangerous covert operation targeting former Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed — claims that, if true, could significantly deepen the country’s political crisis and instability.

Several politicians aligned with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have also publicly warned former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed to “be careful” remarks that further risk inflaming the already tense political atmosphere.
