Bosaso (WDN) Recent reports from Puntland reveal that U.S. airstrikes on the Almaiskaad Mountains have inflicted unprecedented losses on ISIS (Daesh) militants. The strikes, which took place on Tuesday night targeted key terrorist command centers with heavy bombs, resulting in significant destruction.
According to statement from AFRICOM confirmed ” The airstrikes occurred in the vicinity of the Golis Mountains, Somalia. AFRICOM’s initial assessment is that multiple ISIS-Somalia operatives were killed and no civilians were harmed.”
These strikes mark a significant setback for ISIS in Puntland, severely hampering their ability to maintain a presence in the region.
U.S. warplanes is said to specifically aim at three vital command locations used by ISIS militants between the Mirale and Balade valleys. Security sources in Puntland confirmed that these sites, previously explored by military intelligence, were essential for the operations of senior ISIS leaders, who were hiding in a large cave nestled between the two valleys. The airstrikes completely leveled the cave, with the leaders believed to have been unable to respond or escape.
In addition to the primary command center, U.S. forces destroyed a second ISIS position that housed a crucial supply depot, including various resources and a vital water well located in the Miraale valley. This well is believed to be a key asset for ISIS militants operating in the region.
The third target was the Mirale command center, where U.S. bombing wiped out the remaining weapons and military equipment, including mortars. With this destruction, the remaining ISIS forces in the Miraale and Balade areas have been left without their critical infrastructure and resources, effectively crippling their operations.
