Garowe (WDN)– In yet another blow to communication infrastructure, armed groups disrupted internet services across Mudug region this morning by cutting the fiber optic cables of Golis Telecommunications in Burtinle District, Nugaal region of Puntland. This marks the fourth time this year that internet connectivity has been severed due to similar attacks.

The targeted sabotage left entire communities without access to vital internet services, as Golis’s fiber optic cables running through Burtinle serve as the primary link for internet transmission to the broader Mudug region.

This incident is part of a disturbing pattern, as local groups, citing unresolved grievances, have repeatedly attacked the cables, paralyzing communication in the area. Despite these frequent disruptions, local security forces have been unable to prevent or respond to these acts of vandalism effectively.

The recurring sabotage has raised serious concerns about the security and reliability of essential infrastructure in the region. As of now, Golis Telecommunications has not issued any public statements regarding the latest incident, nor has it addressed the growing frustration among its users in Mudug, who continue to face unreliable service.
