Mogadishu (WDN)- Puntland’s Darawish forces announced today the seizure of nearly 2,000 handmade explosives and multiple ISIS-affiliated bomb-making workshops during a major operation in the Cal Miskaad mountains of the Bari region.
The raids targeted facilities where Daesh (ISIS) militants allegedly manufactured devices intended to attack civilians and security personnel engaged in counterterrorism efforts. Troops also dismantled a key militant base used to stockpile and prepare explosives, with authorities warning of the “alarming scale” of threats uncovered.
In a swift advance, Puntland forces overwhelmed ISIS strongholds, prompting militants to abandon critical sites. The operation enabled the capture of weapon-production facilities and the strategic area of **Ceel Dharinta**, where ISIS remnants had regrouped after earlier defeats in the Jeceel mountains.
General Maxamuud Faadhigo, spokesperson for Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Operations, confirmed the gains: *“Our coordinated strike secured Ceel Dharin, a reported hideout for fleeing terrorists. They aimed to establish an attack base there, but we neutralized their plans.”
The raids mark the latest in a series of victories against ISIS cells in the region, underscoring heightened efforts to disrupt the group’s destabilization campaigns.
