Bosaso (WDN)-The Puntland Defense Forces (PDF) launched a successful security operation today in the Cascasey area of the Bari region, targeting remnants of the ISIS terrorist group that had been seeking refuge in the region. The Anti-Terrorism Operations Office confirmed that several militants, all of whom were foreign fighters, were eliminated during the mission.

According to an official statement from the Puntland military command, the operation was part of an ongoing counterterrorism effort to root out extremist elements attempting to regroup in remote areas.

“The troops successfully neutralized foreign ISIS fugitives hiding in Cascasey, northern Dhaban-Qooxley,” the statement read.

Local sources report that the operation involved a well-coordinated assault, with Puntland forces deploying specialized units to track and eliminate the militants. Security analysts believe this crackdown is a response to increased terrorist activity in the Bari region, where ISIS has been attempting to establish a foothold despite sustained military pressure.

Following the raid, Puntland authorities released photographic and video evidence showing the bodies of the slain militants. However, military officials have not disclosed whether any Puntland troops sustained casualties during the operation.
