Bosaso (WDN)–– In a routine security operation, Puntland’s defense forces uncovered a unique ISIS hideout in the Buqo-aled area of the Almaiskaad Mountains. The discovery revealed concrete houses built into the rugged slopes, complete with administrative offices and a conference hall, suggesting the area was designed for the top leaders of ISIS terrorists.
The Puntland Army Command, through its Operation Elimination of Terrorism Office, confirmed the find. Two vehicles—one large and one small—were found burned, along with other equipment.
“We’ve uncovered a surprisingly well-equipped setup in Buqo-aled,” said a spokesperson from the Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operations Office. “These concrete houses, complete with offices and a conference hall, were of much use to the terrorists—we assume the underground cozy setting was meant for the top leaders of ISIS.”
The operation continued in the Dhasaan and Dhadar areas, where additional caves, weapons, and underground equipment were unearthed, further exposing the ISIS group’s hidden network in the mountains.
