Bosaso (WDN)- In a major counterterrorism success, Puntland’s Defense Forces carried out a carefully planned operation , eliminating a high-ranking ISIS commander responsible for coordinating explosive-laden drone attacks and landmine detonation operations. The offensive took place in the Lugta Huraanhur and Togga Raqraq areas within the Al-Miskaad Mountains, a known stronghold for terrorist groups.

According to an official statement released by the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF), the targeted militant was the head of ISIS’s drone and explosives division, playing a crucial role in the group’s bomb-making and remote attack operations. His expertise in drone technology and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) made him one of the most dangerous figures within ISIS’s ranks in Somalia.

“Puntland Defense Forces have successfully eliminated the leader of ISIS’s explosive drone and landmine unit during a strategic military operation in the Al-Miskaad Mountains. The area had been serving as a key operational hub for orchestrating terror attacks,” the statement read.

In addition to neutralizing the ISIS commander, Puntland forces engaged in fierce combat with the militants, seizing weapons and inflicting heavy casualties.
