Mogadishu (WDN)- Representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia and the Nabad iyo Nolol opposition coalition met in Mogadishu to discuss the continuation of political dialogue aimed at resolving the country’s ongoing political challenges.
According to a joint statement, the meeting was held in a constructive and cordial atmosphere, with both sides engaging in open, transparent, and productive discussions on key political issues and the future of the dialogue process.
The two parties agreed to continue an inclusive political dialogue, emphasizing their shared commitment to achieving lasting political stability, sustainable security, and national development.
The Federal Government of Somalia and the Nabad iyo Nolol opposition also expressed their appreciation to the Republic of Türkiye for its role in facilitating the talks and supporting efforts to advance political consensus in Somalia.
Nevertheless, the press release made no reference to whether the discussions addressed the root causes of Somalia’s prolonged political crisis, particularly the controversial unilateral electoral process and constitutional amendments advanced by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud—issues that many political actors view as central to the country’s deepening political divisions and institutional deadlock.
