Kismayo (WDN) – The Deputy President of the Jubaland administrationMahmoud Sayid Aden, t, held a meeting with the Governor of Mandera in northern Kenya to discuss key cross-border issues between Kenya and Somalia.
The meeting focused on ensuring peace and stability along the shared border and improving the movement of people and goods between the two neighboring regions. Mahmoud Sayid reportedly urged the Mandera Governor to support efforts aimed at maintaining security and facilitating peaceful trade and travel between communities on both sides of the border.
The discussion took place amid heightened tensions between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Jubaland administration, particularly near the town of Beled-Hawo, where Mahmoud Sayid has been based in recent days. The area has seen growing fears of potential armed conflict due to an ongoing political standoff between Mogadishu and Kismayo.
The talks signal an effort by Jubaland to secure regional cooperation and stabilize the situation along one of Somalia’s most sensitive borders.
