Galdogob Erupts in Relief After Suspected Killer Is Shot Dead in Security Operation

Galdogob (WDN) – A wave of relief and celebration swept through Galdogob on Tuesday after the man accused of killing a traveler and injuring two others was shot dead following a gun battle with security forces.

The suspect had fled across the border into Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State after carrying out the attack. Traditional elders in Galdogob swiftly issued a call for his capture, declaring that he must be brought back “alive or dead.” Security units tracked him down, but he refused to surrender and opened fire. He was killed in the ensuing confrontation.

News of his death was met with visible jubilation in the Mudug town, where residents say the killings had shaken the community. In a dramatic and symbolic gesture, locals placed the body at the very site where the travelers were attacked — alongside the vehicle allegedly used in the assault  signaling what many described as the restoration of justice.

After days of fear and anger, the town now breathes easier. Young men from the Galdogob community (Leelkase) who were present expressed pride in what they described as a decisive response to violence. For many residents, the slain criminal’s fate represented justice served and a clear message that such acts would not go unanswered.
