Clan Militia Storms and Shuts Down Voter Registration Offices in Dhusamareeb

DHUSAMAREEB (WDN) — In a stunning development, a clan militia has stormed and shut down the newly opened voter registration offices in Dhusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug State. The facilities had only recently been inaugurated by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye “Qoor-Qoor” as part of President Hassan’s unilateral push for his one-person, one-vote election campaign project.

Eyewitnesses report a dramatic scene as armed militiamen arrived in combat vehicles, seized the buildings, and blocked all access roads with heavily armed fighters. The city has since been gripped by tension, and fears are mounting that the standoff could escalate into open conflict.

The shocking move comes amid deep clan grievances. Members of the Ayr clan, the majority group in Dhusamareeb, say they were completely excluded from the formation of the electoral commission and the selection of election staff. According to them, the individuals appointed to oversee the process are outsiders, brought in without consultation, and have no roots in the local community.

Sources suggest the militia is demanding the immediate suspension of the electoral process and a complete overhaul of the procedures used to appoint the commission. They argue that the current approach is not only exclusionary but illegitimate.
