Bosaso(WDN) In a strong statement, Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni reassured the people of the region that security will remain his top priority, vowing that under his leadership, Puntland will never again suffer from negligence or insecurity.
During a high-level meeting in the port city of Bosaso, the economic hub of Puntland, President Deni met with traditional elders, respected community leaders, and clan chiefs from the Bari region. The gathering was aimed at addressing growing security concerns, the fight against ISIS-affiliated militants, and reinforcing law and order in Puntland.
President Deni praised the people of Puntland, particularly in Bari, for their resilience and sacrifices in the ongoing fight against ISIS. He acknowledged the bravery of Puntland’s security forces and tribal fighters who have risked their lives to protect the region from extremist threats.
In his speech, the president paid tribute to fallen soldiers, emphasizing that their sacrifices will not be in vain and pledging that Puntland’s cities will be secured in their honor.
“The blood of Puntland’s martyrs will never be spilled in vain. Insha’Allah, their sacrifices will be honored, and their legacy will be visible in every city of Puntland. May Allah have mercy on those who have passed and grant healing to the wounded,” Deni stated.
The President reaffirmed that the government would continue its military operations against ISIS militants who have been terrorizing local communities, vowing to eliminate their presence in Puntland once and for all.
In a rare moment of candor, President Deni admitted that Puntland had experienced security failures in the past, but he firmly promised that such negligence would not be tolerated under his leadership.
He pledged a new era of accountability, ensuring that no political or clan interests would compromise Puntland’s security. He issued a stern warning to all individuals or groups seeking to destabilize the region, stating that no one—regardless of status or influence—would be exempt from the rule of law.
“As long as I am in office, I pledge that there will be no more security failures. We will not tolerate lawlessness. There will be no leniency for those who threaten the safety of our people. No one is above the law—whether they are near or far,” Deni declared. The president’s pledge signals a renewed commitment to strengthening Puntland’s military and security apparatus, ensuring that criminal elements and terrorists will not find a foothold in the region.
With Puntland now standing as one of the most stable regions in Somalia, Deni’s promise will be closely watched—both by Puntland’s citizens and the international community—to see if he can deliver on his commitment to security and stability in the face of growing regional challenges.
