40th Anniversary of
Somalis Script
With the spirit of the 40th Anniversary of Somali language script, combined with 5th Anniversary of Somali Cultural Heritage Symposium, Minneapolis Somalis are happy to have a delegation from Djibouti where Somali language and Somali Speaking Pen have found a home. There, a devoted group of writers, poets have been pulling all strengths to raise lasting pillars for the Somalis language to lean on. Thus, some members of that group: the former president of Somalis Speaking Pen, writer Mohamed Dahir Afrah, the current president, writer Aden Hassan Aden, and a member of the executive committee, writer Omar Said Bileh are joining the Somali Culture and Literary Study Circle and the Somali Speaking PEN North American Chapter. Those three men have been an integral part of leading voices in Djibouti that have committed themselves to reinvigorate, archive and enrich our mother land. Please let us welcome them from June 14 to June 17.
