I wish to condemn in the strongest of terms the aggressive and nihilistic stance of Somaliland (Northwest regions of Somalia) administration in the Sool, Sanaag & Ayn regions of Somalia .
Somaliland, a break-away Somali state, which advertises to embrace core principles of democracy, is pursuing practices of suppression and tyrannical tendencies in the said regions of Somalia thereby enforcing despotic strategies of killing, imprisoning, uprooting, and oppressing innocent civilians for no reason other than their opposition to Somaliland’s secessionist agenda; such dictatorial practices are undemocratic and only advance the interest of ethnocentric groups in Hargeisa. Equally abominable are the actions of the Ethiopian troops clashing with the locals in Buhodle killing scores of defenceless civilians with many more left wounded and uncared for; such actions are inhumane, abhorrent and unjustifiable. Ethiopia must respect Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the international community must hold Ethiopia accountable for its transgressions and violation of human rights. The silence on the part of the UN, human rights organisations and the greater international bodies can only be seen as an acceptance to the atrocities inflicted upon innocent civilians and tolerance for the subjugation of free will in the said regions of Somalia . International organisations must condemn what is taking place in the Sool, Sanaag & Ayn regions of Somalia . The Puntland administration must be condemned for its lack of policy, leadership, action, and indifference to the plight of the people of Puntland in Sool, Sanaag & Ayn regions. Mohamed A.
