As I read the evocative words and heartfelt sentiments of some readers/contributors of the go-to web portal for news and information on Somalia, namely the Wardheernews, I cannot help but recall with fondness how the Hassan Brothers and Roble began their seminal project five short years ago. Clearly they must have at the time been, like so many Somalis, disappointed with the panoply of Somali oriented web sites all over the Internet; a drove that gives emptiness a bad name.  But disenchantment with the work of others alone could not possibly be the driving force that explains their groundbreaking effort. 

They most definitely shared a vision: to develop and operationalize an online media outlet that would serve the Somali people, while adhering to the highest standards of journalistic ethic.  They have, by all accounts, achieved that goal with aplomb. And so it is that dedication to excellence and fidelity to the truth that has set Wardheernews apart since its inception on November 23, 2004 CE.

I do not know anyone who would significantly improve on their simple but effective formula for success.  Ah! If only Somali politicians of all stripes would have the presence of mind to use Wardheernews’ example for accomplishing a mission! But, alas, that does not seem o be in the cards, at least not yet, anyway.

Congratulations Wardheernews, and keep your eyes on the prize!

I am truly amazed the professionalism in journalism that you guys displayed despite the meager resources that are available. Hence, it is my greatest wish that WardheerNews, under you able guidance, would continue for excellent journalism.
